WEEKLY WARNING WORDS
February 23, 2005 - Week 75 - Straight-Shooting Big Shot
BY DR. BRUNO J. KEITH
I prefer the living status of a popular hero to the many dead heroes our commanders-in-chief love to make, so they can dress-up themselves in gory glory. I also thought that Senator McCain was a better man & good citizen, a splendid survivor & survivalist in preference to his father & grand-father, admirable admirals. In all honesty, I once supported him by voice, by script & with money too. Now I consider him as cheap a politicker as his President, his Vice & multiple-choice followers in crookedness.
McCain once criticized & actively opposed all the extra-legal machinations of the Bushits. However, his fear of being read out of the re-Publican party induced McCain to campaign heart & soul for a preposterous liar, cowboy actor & false savior. In fact, our people’s Senator contributed all his prestige to the reelection of the most anti-government Texan executioner, the most anti-social & most selfish critter who used high & highest elective office to profit by billions from his internal as well as external policies. The most greedy of the greediest party & partisans joyride under his auspices.
Then, again, McCain has also a record as a staunch denier of people’s rights. He voted for almost every piss of legislation which helped the wealthy & made our poor ever poorer. Was his protective shield over the rights of Native Americans only a vote-getting device in his State of Arizona where "Indian" votes could make him climb out of absurd canyons of failure? Perhaps he remembered our history of always breaking our legal pledges to Native Americans, so developers & financiers could steal Indean lands or buy it at basement bargain bogus prices.
If our Senator helped legislate some subsequent sovereign rights to the natives, why would he try to exclude Hawaiians from some of their benefits under laws of tribute for cruel retribution & persecution? Were not Hawaiians the legitimate owners of their Sandwich Isles since centuries before the children of pious missionaries stole lots of their lands through clever manipulations & ended up robbing them out of all their islands in the sun of an injust God?
How dishonest & finessed is McCains’s resistance to treating our insular natives as natives under existing laws of reparations for suffered indignities, for robbing them of independence, their pride & their culture? "When Hawai’i became a state there was an implicit agreement at that time that Native Hawaiians would not receive the same status as other Native Americans". How dishonest & ignominious such claptrap of Senator McCain!
Sandwiched between his inimical assertion & the lie that Hawaiians will renounce their birthright, is the known fact that President Eisenhauer assumed that the Territory of Hawai’i would develop into a Communistic state because the Australian Longshoreman, Harry Bridges, was a radical labor unionist & because Japanese workers had called for strikes against big-money interests. Knowing good Ike’s fears & powerful appeal, the Republican leaders, appointed by a corporate government, could afford no protest against orders or assumptions by haters of American Natives in the shape of big Hawaiians without influence or power. But how dares McCain consider their lack of noisy input a pledge of the strength of a law, a fixed standard or political dogma? If McCain were a fighter for freedom & democracy, he would also be a lover of facts, of reality & powerful circumstances. Or is he an opportunist who loves to hurt the too often hurt Native Americans whose heart was broken when their islands were stolen in broad daylight robbery right from underneath their bodies.
When McCain still was a straight-shooter while he ran well in the Republican primaries over 4 years ago, he was not afraid to try the truth as weapon against the Texas executioner, the underminer of Texas education & the direly needed local health insurance programs. Instead of furthering decent reforms in all matters of governance, McCain, Governors Schwarzenegger & Potocki used their theatralic appeal to liberal conservatives (a paradox & nasty misrepresentation!) to get the worst-ever hater of common people reelected.
If US voters were fair, they should have seen through such "liberal" deception last November as an expensively purchased advertizing device & should have condemned the number one martial man together with his off-key propagandists. But having bought the most expensive computer fixers & the leading propaganda mills, all umbrellaed re-Publicans acted in unison & stole another election (this time without fiat of the Supreme Court) to continue the great blood baths, the robbing of the poor of this world, the concentration of our national wealth in the hands of all Publicans & to sell out many future generations of Native Americans.
