January 12, 2005 - Week 69 - Act of God

At an age where millions of millimen subject themselves to the take-no-prisoner Zeitgeist, our nation's silent majority loudly confirms the unique dictate of the Bible. As the weakened losers, the believers in the forces of Nature, the rationalists, the humane secular humanists, the liberal adepts of the 18th century freedoms of thinking, feeling & legislating the liberating philosophies of our Founding Fathers & their Constitution must desist when ancient superstitions, prejudices & pious tyranny can no longer be separated from the politics of state-hegemony over the bodies, minds & souls of real people.
Once the cynics among legislators derisively named irresistible powers which they couldn't anticipate, explain nor resist "Acts of God". Those addicted to a fear, sympathy & belief in the supernatural forces respectfully agreed to the vast legal dependence of humankind even if only to free insurance companies from obligations they had accepted on receipt of huge insurance premiums. Unless specifically included due to increased additional charges, most insurers had the freedom of legal protection against demands of victims of violence for their losses. Most of those who enriched themselves by accepting an all-insurance policy, needed Lloyds of London for reinsurance. But in all cases were needed valid definitions of the meaning(s) of "Act of God".
In the beginnings of such considerations, the four beasts of the Apocalypse represented the malevolence of irresistible attackers of human security, health & life. War had to be equalized with plagues & epidemic disaster, famine, flood, volcanic eruption, earthquake & tsunami. But it was accepted that earthquakes were superhuman risks only in areas of their greatest occurrence while the rest of surroundings were deemed free of such threats. However, progress in archaeology and the use of atomic determinators proved wider occurrence than hitherto assumed. As a consequence, the enormous damage by seismic waves caused by earthquakes of greatest magnitude have been re-evaluated at least from the time of the 1755 earthquake around Lisboa. (While the resulting tsunami was hugely destructive along the coasts of Spain, Algier & Morocco, most lives were destroyed in this new capital of Portugal. It was on All Saints Day. All good Catholics crowded hundreds of churches & were smashed under their ruins. Survivors never doubted this vengeance was an act of their good God.)
Since the savage eruption of the Krakatau (1883), people began to see the magma of our planet's core as the superpower which moves huge plates against each other & rubbing populated areas against each other for explosive motions of billions of tons of still liquid rock. That rubs us out & teaches us that we should no longer distinguish between the disasters caused by volcanoes & earthquakes. Most recently, we were taught another cruel lesson which originated again in the Indonesian world, so narrowly controlled by Allah, Mohamet (Mohammed) & their Islam, Shiva, Buddha & Jesus the Christ.
Shall we hear the mullahs call this slaughter of 155, 000 faithful also an Act of God? Are these victims on an equal footing with zealous suicide bombers who have their free entrance ticket to Paradise to enjoy sex with virgin-teenagers in the vicinity of the Prophet & Allah? Will Asama bin Laden give his invited comment on the great opponent to his faith & living up to the commands of the Qoran, its author & the Author of all?
Even he must accept this latest fact of history although he is too cowardly to follow into death & Paradise the masses he sends there by his own lack of heroism & formal piety. To which extent does this also-true-believer agree with my former friend & former state legislator, a good Mormon & true believer in a great Heaven for pious thought?
I wrote her & her good husband my best letter of condolences when her 2nd oldest son died an early death in his military uniform while he drove over our lava rock in drunken stupor. A few days later, I met a joyous lady: "Isn't it wonderful! He is in Heaven now." Her husband, born a Mormon, remained sad like me. Act of God, too? What a great dogma for killer people, gangsters & true-believers! Anyway, all sins were forgiven about 2 millenia ago. Only kids were still born in "original sin". Very original!
Judging the Grand Judge of this side of the world, I courtly decide that God, Allah, Shiva & Buddha are Republicans. They, too, force every doomed germ of life to live & compete with the gems in their collections; they also hate these children (after enforced birthing) & condemn them to poverty, slavery & hopelessness before killing them off like the poorest of the poor by Acts of God, Wars or secular executioners in Texas, Florida, all Moslem states & others run by fundamentalists
In this same Spirit, the most obscure confession comes from the self-possessed, malicious & excessively pre-emptive aggressors who survive Allah's (God's) wrath: "Thank you, oh Lord, for saving my life." Does that not signify that that Con-Troller of the Universe murdered the unfortunate, the poorest & the children along with the oldest, the invalids & all the weakest links of the pious evolution? How much more criminal can the Supremest Judge be?
Yet, an expensive ocean-bottom censor network can cheat the Armageddon-armed assassins out of thousands of involuntary victims. But, nothing real & great can eradicate the spooning reality - defying perpetrators of world-class "religions" out of their business monopolies. Once let loose they keep infesting human hearts & souls with the germs of universal destruction, even outdistancing murderous Gods in all their names, shapes & forms.
It appears that the Bush collaterally damaged (murdered civilians) are as numerous as each idol's culpable victims. However, no international count of justice can punish the great idols of inhumane humanity.
