WEEKLY WARNING WORDS
January 5, 2005 - Week 68 - The Irresponsibles
BY DR. BRUNO J. KEITH
George W. Bush committed his first decent act just before the dawn of year 2005. Why was his first (possibly a gut reaction) approach to a super-crisis mere chicken feed & accompanying rooster cackle? Why didn't he recognize the urgency of immediate & responsible counter-shock answer to a most cruel, terroristic and savage attack on humanity within minutes after the monster earthquake was said to be close to 9 on the Richterscale in waters of prolific human multiplication? Everyone anticipated the tumbling of thousands of structures, & all educated folks knew that the seismic plate-itudes were certain to cause the world's most disastrous tsunami which would force up to 100-feet waves to hit shoreline dwellings & way-inland housing with most powerful killer showers like steamrollers, let loose to wipe out life as people there knew it & had lived it, under "normally" already deadly strains.
Had our President been human(e), he would have sent out within 5 minutes his nearest helicopters for spying out immediate needs , hastening their instant assistance & active lifesaving. Within minutes, his international commitments would have established the need of our entire aid-mechanism - boats, lorries, bulldozers, cranes, picks, shovels, ropes & chains, ect. Above all, our professionals of FEMA, Red Cross & all other relief societies could have set model examples for meeting the moral imperatives of murderous Nature. (His 1st offers of measly 18M & then 35M were insult adding to injury.)
Above all, Bush could have started delivery of food, water, water & more clean drinking water before the thirsty, starving & listless crowds could spread more disastrous diseases, loss of vitality & acts of desperation. The first 10 minutes showed that the richest, most wasteful & most careless Nation could have lived up to the world's hope for a billion US depreciated dollars to start healing some of the already inflicted & still expected wounds. Why was our fast-feasting MBA so slow, so reluctant & so half-negative learner of decent photo opportunities? If he had only immediately, & without urging, done the beautiful, the good & wise deeds worth a million prayers & good words! Does that not seem like a repetition of the failed leadership of Bushits on 9-11? Instead of acting the moment the first airliner was hijacked the slow learner continued having himself photographed reading baby-stuff to smart little kids. All his cabinet mobiles likewise missed the chance to hit all the airborne missiles before they could do greatest harm. The tragic day was also the most shameful in U.S. history. Delay, delay & DeLay. No private initiative, only gawking & secret prayers, perhaps not even those!
The apparent half-denial & half-delaying of what was required of our world leader these days replayed the immature, immaterial & much-too-late semi-actions of Nine-Eleven-2001. Contrary to the blue-blood, blue ribbon, appointed investigatory report, the multiple disaster of our Second & bigger Pearl Harbor, the results of that unhappy day could have, & should have, been forestalled by decent leadership; some of the worst destructions of lives & properties could have been diminished if our Bush - Rice - Cheney - Rumsfeld - Mueller - Tenet had done their duty at a moment's notice.
That "moral" inquisition never got the facts straight: They let a professional liar tell them that nobody could have predicted the September 11 attack, its means & its curse of events. That beastly untruth shocked all the world's students of current events. Many had predicted the use of civilian airplanes as deadly missiles of suicide bombers. Richard Clark had warned his superiors (Condoleezza Rice was his direct boss) in writing & verbally that such act was not only possible but most likely to occur very, very soon.
Outright whistle blowers were aplenty. At least 2 FBI responsibles tried hardest to warn Washington & their headmen concerning the Arab suspects of terrorism who were in training to pilot our largest passenger planes for no other visible or detectable purpose but shooting these handy missiles against our most valued landmarks. Minneapolis & Phoenix did their duty. FBI agent Rowley was the quickest, most valiant & most pressing whistle blower in Minnesota. Arizona had her equivalent, but both were considered rejects & people of no importance because they didn't have the blessings of Bush-appointed or confirmed, FBI directors. Mueller was rather new to the leadership post. But he messed around in organization & bureaucracy problems. Apparently, he wasn't smart enough to smell out the most urgent needs, risks & obvious dangers. Had he had mustered some of the danger signals, he might have contacted his equivalent in CIA Tenet which otherwise couldn't interfere in international affairs even where the vital & life-threatening threats were obvious to anyone else. FBI admitted his guilt & was fired much, much later.
Likewise guilty of high crimes against their people were the monstrous C.E.O.s & chairmen of the boards of our main airlines, all huge & mismanaging dumb-heads of large corporations. Like other conservative Republicans, they hate their government & openly defy life-saving orders or suggestions. The supposedly supervising F.A.A. has no enforcement powers. If it had, it couldn't do things right because these government reprehensibles come from & go back to their airlines after their public malfeasance in enterprise.
Still, for years they had refused to install are the available detectors of all types of weapons & munitions. What had worked so well for Israel's EL AL is even now only used in part. Our airports are not yet safe nor are all civilian planes. Our greedy managers of air insecurity put millions of dollars in their own pockets, fired many of their workers & cheat on their responsibilities. Even as our reluctant Bushits took over the phony protection army of underpaid non-professionals, the most tactless & selfish politicians of the wrong right only know how to harass the public without making them feel safe.
That Rice never heard, saw or had her nose smacked into the sordid & criminal disregard of all-too-apparent misbehavior where the buck should have stopped. She was guilty of treasonous malfeasance in office whose job description was, & remains, putting all little & big points together, connect the threads of threats & show the logical whole of endangerment to our life & all lives. As Secretary of State, she may have to downplay cowboy malpractice, as her predecessor had done in vain. But who knows? Bush's 350M down payment on his debt to humanity may be a good start. That figure may even be close to the tax return to a few thousand of our richer fellow-citizens who didn't invest the windfall in their home economy but rather lost it all & their lives to the tsunami. However, their families at home will gather in the massive insurance payments like these of the relatives of those perished on 9-11-01. They will garner a huge surplus with which to buy the election of Bush-ordered President of his choice.
