WEEKLY WARNING WORDS

December 15, 2004 - Week 65 - Here We Go Again And Again Again.

BY DR. BRUNO J. KEITH

Zelikov, the soul of our Congressional Commission on Nine-Eleven, seems as happy with the creation of a National Security Director as most ivy-leaguers of that prestigious investigatory commissariat & praising bystanders. So the President may appoint a powerful elbow with lots of pull & push, commandeerer of a huge & taxing secret budget & the terminal power to tell the President what to decide after gathering all threads of threats, have them analyzed & have the power of instant action with the permission of our Commander-In-Chief (or Mischief). What else is new?

Didn't we all think, or know, that Tom Ridge had that "powerful" job by appointment soon after our Second Pearl Harbor? Was he not supposed to control all decisive power in his hand & unite our multiple secret budget-busting units, combine all their guesses, findings, facts & powers & act immediately on preventive necessities etc., etc., etc?

But was this Ridge-Pole of national defence, Chief of Homeland Security, ever activated beyond the novel color scheme of indicating permanent danger? Frightening our Nation almost to the degree of a hot-cold war like the hiding of schoolkids under the "protective" benches during the atomic terror of the evil Communists' might which did not heighten our security.

Let us also remember that Bush's star National Security add-visor, Condoleezza Rice, was also considered the gatherer of all political & physical threats, including their analysis, & pull her favorite President into immediate action. What good did she & he do? Are expectations any clearer, more inclusive & most urgent if Kerik of New York adds his green ire (for hope) & his Giuliano calendar of Ground Zero experience? Now it seems that Kerik's attempted appointment satisfied the born-again Bush's re-Publican requirement of his record as all-involved millionaire racketeer with Saudi-terrorist ties & other multi-national super-connections. As the well-connected Secretary of State, Ms. Rice may also include her previous turf & do nothing, nothing at all, for U.S. Security even if given cautionary or urgent warning signals. Since her admission to the political Ivy League, her pervasive theories trump realistic practice any time.

Whatever phony & expensive new layers are imposed on the many existing ones & never disappearing secret budget commissions, depend on an alert, thoughtful, intelligent & cautious statesman such as we never vote into office. But just imagine if we had had a true egghead statesman in charge on September 11, 2001? He might have used brain power the moment he heard that a huge passenger plane was taken over by Arab terrorists. He had plenty of time to assemble his strike forces in the air, on land & sea from New England to Virginia, the Great Lakes & Pennsylvania & sacrifice the stupid crews & their timid passengers who made the take-overs happen. More time for the next 2 Muslim air actions was readily conceded by our top idiots.

But had his National Security Advisor listened to the many prewarnings of her immediate source referents, read or listened to the news-making advisory cautionary calls & had done her job, the buck could have stopped at the top where the constitutional responsibility lies. But with the likes of Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld & their fairytale idiots there can be no national security. For four more years, the well-insured elite & the richest Americans will have to share for once the general insecurity with our homeless, uninsured, unemployed, underpaid & non-voting majority. What else can we expect after the missed opportunity of November 2, 2004?
