August 18, 2004 - Week 48 - Parallel Lives

A M.B.A. of Ivy League Harvard & even a B.A. of a lousy little Eureka college must have been taught some history & ethics about the great Greek, Plutarch. They would have known that everyone's wonderful historian, philosopher, ethicist & biographer spoke nothing but the truth while also discussing current events. But did they ever wonder why the Great One of Greek & Roman citizenship, widely traveled, known to his world & a friend or acquaintance of all those who made history, never mentioned a Jesus Christ who was supposed to have been crucified a dozen years before his birth; or the Christians who were supposedly crucified, burned or otherwise persecuted during the entirety of Plutarch's life? Yet, both Reagan & Bush built great careers on their faith in the One who may have lived only in fables, paradigms & legends. If such gifted witness to his true & political action lived in our over-advertized time, he certainly might have concocted "Parallel Lives" like Plutarch, based on the hollow hegemony of our Nation & the hollower but hallowed biographics of Ronald Reagan & George W. Bush. For admiring & imitating the former, the latter-day national hero sees himself as a Reagan reborn & a facsimile of the Christ in his pious mind & in those who dare to admire him or his heroes.
Like their Evangelium model, both our contemporaries had also ready answers at their shirtsleeves. Reagan had his well-organized cards to read out solutions to every-day problems. Our living master of failed business has a Harvard-system of ready answers well memorized & to the satisfaction of his worshippers & certainly to his own self-image.
Both lie about their tax-relief for the "hard working middle class" while 95% of these generous gifts go to the 5% who have it all & could pay what they owe for the special protection of their wealth, their far-flung investments, interests & for the wars their greed, overindulgence & crusading aggressiveness cause. Both see the world in black & white & divide it up like our country which is always all-too-eager to shed blood because both feel that they are as great & good as their pious causes.
Both violate the welfare clause of our beloved Constitution while they make their government voyeurs inside everyone's bedroom & force their man's view on distressed women. They call "right to life" protection for their sickest semen as they order the execution of existing life which was endangered by the drugs their medicinemen so readily prescribed or based on the Golden Triangle's opium (heroine) poppy of their anti-Communist mountain allies. Killer-wars they say yes to; mercy & understanding for their women & other victims, they don't want. They haven't accepted yet the 19th amendment of our Constitution.
Both are friends of murderous NRA violators of the too-few safeguards for unarmed citizens while their fairer opponents allow only real sportsmen - hunting rifles without the use of high-tech weapons of mass destruction in the hands of criminals & unbalanced minds.
When 2 charming con-municators befuddle the high-pricing world of advertizing with their semblance of frank sincerity & private-life decency, the Holly Voodoo imaging can produce one-liner entertainment to damage better, more honest and more social-minded leadership in favor of these 2 religious cultists.
Both used the name of F.D.R. to rob the underprivileged which the great Hudson-Valley Liberal tried to protect. They know how to alienate the already disgusted, to keep them away from the polls because those could & would vote for anyone but Reagan, Bush, Gingrich & DeLay, those radical enemies of their people.
They continue to reward outsourcing well-paying jobs, preferring to confer billions of tax moneys on their allies in the military-industrial-commercial complex by making enemies worth wasting young people's sweat & blood for; they fight 2 wars at one time, so they can employ hundred thousands more in our fighting forces, our homeland security armies & claim that the tax relief for the wealthiest has produced many new jobs.
The trickle - down lies of Reagan were readily taken over by this Bushman. Our latter-day devil sickens half of his nation with his straight-shooting false statistics, with the result that we need a million more care-givers, registered nurses & lots more helpers at home, special homes & malfunctioning substitutes for real hospitals. What a dishonest & honestly vicious way to reduce the number of the nearly 3 million he made lose their jobs as if his wars didn't reduce enough the number of unemployed by his nutwork of domestic security & insecurity abroad & from abroad. Bush knows how even our sky & his Heaven can fall on US.
But it is one thing for the twosome to send fighting forces into Grenada where the American Medical College for 2nd-rate students & their first-rate tuition never felt endangered by phoney Communism; battle a mad-man's Lybia, support military-fascist assassins in Nicaragua or to fight 2 huge wars at this time (Afghanistan & Iraq) in order to catch 2 also evil leaders but deny our own war victims or their families, the benefits we owe them for doing their volunteered duty as American patriots.
They cannot understand that PTSD - suffering from post-traumatic stress disorders & multiple physical, psychological battle-front injuries & diseases are real. Reagan emptied the hospitals & protective homes for the mentally-distressed Veterans & put them out in the street exposed to the homelessness, hunger & mischief & lied that they loved that sort of freedom. Non-service-connected injuries are now ineligible for Veterans' benefits thanks to our Bush. No medications, no medical care, no rehabilitation, no use of Veterans Administration hospitals for thousands of suffering ex-soldiers, and certainly no adequate pay for new combat soldiers nor the left-behind families. Sadly, that is just like both Presidents' destructive battle against trade unions which those evil men call "special interests".
Reagan continued "Mr. Republican", Senator Taft's, war on Labor Unions by firing striking Air Controllers which was an act of terror against all airline passengers & much of the country underneath. By not counting as unemployed striking or recently laid-off workers, Bush fakes favorable statistics for his voters. Regardless of the unfriendly sky for all others, Air Force I is the safest place under the sun no matter how costly.
Our living sufferers & often frightened citizens think that tax-dodging began in California. If they checked their old history text for the facts they would learn that the Republican Party was already staunch on refusal to pay its share of our costly police & fireman's forces while they insisted on a balanced budget. Only unbalanced minds consider this double jeopardy sane.
To break their own pledges, unphilosophical programs of government & incongruent self-deception, they used Communism abroad & terrorism everywhere for breaking their re-Publican oath to save where they can & to can & con non-Republicans.
Reagan did just that by painting his opponents as red as possible. Both Bushmen used the threat by those who don't profit from their countries' oil riches to waste hundreds of billions trying to secure oil sources for his & his vicious 2nd in high-command's business even as he gives trillions to those who control the well-oiled stock trade.
The once threatening demands of our Labor Union moved half of our really working labor into the economic & social situation of a vast middle class. Now 90% of the new jobs created by emergencies are of the low & lowly-pay variety. Thus Bush is likely to lose the Reagan - Democrats on November 2.
His fight against "Affirmative Action" will assure that suffering minorities will never vote for Bush. The few indecent Republican Blacks whose bright careers were due to Affirmative Action or Tokenism may now return to the fold of their actual friends.
Perhaps they will realize in time that they don't need to be bribed by "vouchers". Instead, let all parents & all socially-minded people help all our children to improve their education, their sacred public school system & every American citizen or friendly guest. Someday, historians will condemn Reagan & Bush as selfish, greedy & non-caring world - Führers or seductive devils.
