An Internet Notebook On Modernistic Economics,
To Eliminate All Other Memories Of Political Science
Course 101 – Part I of VI
When I was a serious & hardworking little kid before
World War I, I was already an eager searcher for books which our family didn’t
own. But I often managed to grab our
partisan newssheet before my father settled down with it. I finished reading faster than Dad &
asked my many questions of all I met on my way to farmers in our surroundings
who were mostly small-holding peasants without “advanced” abilities. So I had to get acquainted with 3 different
Adam Smiths before the great one impressed me with his great knowledge, wisdom
& human appeal. Thus I was held down
& backwards until “city” hall started a library before we had electricity,
a phone, a flush toilet & refrigeration box. Of course, there was no ice to
be had out of season for a few more decades.
The mayor’s assistant was ready to lend me a small
large-print book as I held my 4 choices stubbornly to my chest. “Is that small-print Smith one of our 2
teachers?” he asked me who didn’t go to school yet. Whatever I may have answered, got me my
treasure pile. I took them home for the
weekend. Three of them were kidstuff
which I finished reading before 10 p.m. when the night forced inactivity on
non-adults.
By the rise of the summer sun, I began to peruse pages here
& there to get some idea about Adam Smith’s ideas in “The Wealth of
Nations”. We had no map to find
Leaving college early, he must have immersed himself in
intensive private studies. Believe it or
not, at the age of 25 he had the temerity to offer public lectures in several
unrelated spheres of knowledge; and he began to make famous friends & even
some admirers. Everyone had soon
sympathy with Adam’s sympathy for the lowly workhorse which he also applied to
the hardcore of obvious human self-interest.
In fact, in his “Inquiry into the Nature & Causes of the Wealth of
Nations” he kept reconciling the demands of just
An “invisible hand” published this first great analysis in
the year of U.S. Independence, to indicate that his realistic analysis
contradicted in odd ways his own good feelings, his rationalism in the Age of
Enlightenment & the pro-worker sympathies of all his new & mighty
friends of subdued revolutionary, charitable, just & fair feelings like the
French Encyclopaedians’ Helvétius, D’Alambert & the colonialist Physiocrats
Quesnay & Turgot.
He may have burned most of his manuscripts in old age
because he had seen too much self-interest in the movers of his time. By giving most of his earnings to charities,
he may have wanted to proscribe his immoral motives for business of his
time. He never dismissed the
decision-making forces of demand as against offer in a slow economy. Nor could he yet discover labor’s attempts to
minimize as much as the wealthy price setters who hated to pay even wages below
a subsistence level. But he didn’t
repudiate the entrepreneurs’ right to take some extra profit for the risks they
took.
It seemed to the very young reader that Smith hated what he
revealed in the first great enterprises of the 18th century &
subsequently in his masterly analysis of commerce.
About a decade later, I discovered John Stuart Mill, almost
a year before I found sympathy also for his father James. In my case the reverse must be assumed rather
than “like father like son”. James Mill (1773
– 1836), another great Scot, inherited some beneficent radicalism &
supported it by his stress of the freedom of the press which prevailed in
This Mill wanted decent government; he helped push the 1st
Reform Bill. In his “History of British
India”, he laid bare errors & crimes of the English colonial government. Also,
he saw the absolute equality of Man negated by the consequences of the Great
French Revolution. But he also believed
in restriction of population increase.
He anticipated even Karl Marx by measuring the value of merchandize
solely by the amount & cost of labor.
No wonder that his eldest son, John Stuart, (1806 – 1873),
became early on imbued with his father’s social & moral sympathies. For 8 years his father was his only
tutor-teacher, teaching him Greek, Latin, history & all known Mathematics,
so that the kid could teach his younger siblings. But I beat him in the study of Adam Smith by
10 years.
Well instructed in French in
Can we believe that it was Mrs. Taylor, née Hardy, who made
him the great political economist? But
with the India Co. in trouble, he had to be its defender at the time of his
beloved wife’s death. Yet, it was during
his trials without error that he gave birth to the most fascinating booklet “On
Liberty” which made me an idealist in spite of the dryness of Economics.
What a man! What a
great democrat! What an enthusiastic
thinker! He dealt with all known
economists & all who were involved in owning, leading & misleading his
nation & others. Reform & fair,
but not radical, Liberalism was his great cause. Few have strengthened the cause of freedom
more that this Mill. He who was willing
to learn from everybody didn’t find everyone willing to learn from this great
genius. But in general for women to vote
& decide their own destiny, the rejection of unearned increment to be added
to wealth-possession & the cooperative movements, especially successful in
David Ricardo (1772 – 1823), was the son of a Jewish –
Dutch member of the London Stock Exchange.
In spite of his estrangement from papa’s business & family, he
turned a liberal (Unitarian). Under
remote influence of the Mill Family, he abandoned Mathematics & Chemistry. He soon impressed Malthusian bankers as an
utilitarian broker in opposition to Malthus.
Ricardo though accepted Malthus’s theory that rent or possession of land
was the basic determiner of price for corn (grain, not meaning maize at that
time.) But Ricardo insisted that wages did mostly set the market price, and all
other costs were a small part of the equation.
His great concern was & remained that a rapid increase
of the population would depress wages below the subsistence level. One must also remember that the land was
owned by the never – working aristocracy.
Therefore, farmers were only renters & subject to the owner’s will
& command. The higher the wages the
less the sales(?) but not necessarily the prices. Ricardo also made the Parliament insist that
bullion was more valuable than its paper value.
In a way, his friend, the elder Mill, gave expression to Ricardo’s
vaguer theories if not in the masterly word power of J.S. Mill.
Thomas R. Malthus(1766 – 1834), though friend of the
philosopher David Hume & the Romantic revolutioneer Jean J. Roussean, was
cursed by his colleagues of the cloth for saying out loud that population would
always increase beyond what could be produced for their needs. Especially, folks hated to hear the
mathematics of it all: mankind would
grow by geometrical progression while the means of subsistence would only grow
in arithmetical progress. (the former by
multiplication, the latter by addition).
He couldn’t imagine the “wonders” of modern over-production.
Malthus determined that social happiness was wishful
thinking for most unless contraception, war, diseases & “Acts of God” put
great restraints on unstoppable populating, sex urges; the farmers needs of
cheapest labor of his children and the slaves’ human production pleasures. The dole is bad for the economy. Hunger works wonders.
Together with his friend Ricardo he thought that low wages
might encourage sexual restraint. That
irked those who considered children the gift of God & gods &,
therefore, real riches. (Let us forget
Bentham among the classical (political) economists.) None of them created jobs to feed people. Theory is not always an incentive.
Another child prodigy, Jeremy Bentham (1748 – 1832),
started to read history at the age of 3 & read in Latin & Greek like
many other privileged kids. He earned
his
As a lawyer in his 30ies, Jeremy impressed Caroline Fox,
daughter of Lord Holland, just as he had Lord Shelburne, later famous as
Marquess of Lansdowne. Rejected as a
candidate for marriage, Bentham grew grim against his poorer admirers. From his defence of harsh judgments, “The
Rationale of Punishment”, he progressed to the “Defense of Usury.”
After having first enjoyed the social justice which
prevailed in Adam Smith, he now praised a radical laissez – faire of individual
traders & manufacturers with his own legalizing private interests above the
public domain of any government. At the
beginning of the Great French Revolution, Bentham was bent on protecting only
the joy & happiness in owning much property in defiance of Christian
teaching. Suddenly, however, he was back
at a Smithonian “the greatest happiness of the greatest number.” This great line is what made him lastingly
famous. Add to it his condemnation of
pain as result of punishment under Blackstone’s law. That made him an honorary citizen in
revolting
His cleverly expressed new principles made him an avid
reformer. But earning too little from
his utilitarian publications, he mistrusted politicians & statesmen. Still, he kept trying to better the world by
his radical – reform “Westminster Review”.
He forsook all Toryism & became a true democrat as his physical
strength began to fade. But living to
his 84th year when the average life ended a quarter century earlier,
he had the right to change a lot. Unfortunately,
later economists concentrated on his over – conservative services & ignored
his powerful appeal to fairness for all.
That much of the classical start of political economy before it was to
be considered the directive for economists.
Since the British classical political economy of 200 years
ago had ruled the economy of the advanced & advancing world, nothing &
nobody had ruled supremely over it. Came
Baron John M. Keynes (1883 – 1946), a mathematical genius, trained & even
educated by Cambridge University, the resting place of St. Thomas & the
tiny but heroic Black Prince. (In the cathedral).
The man was strong – fisted at
Yet, it was Professor Keynes’s furious attack on President
Wilson & British P.M. Lloyd George which made Keynes an international
economist & leader in this only partly mathematical field. For 2 decades he remained lord over Western
economic theory. Nobody doubted his
novel theory that demand of consumer-goods was caused by expenditures, &
not the reverse. Loudly & clearly he
demanded cheap money policies, so that the governments & its bankers would
finance a galloping economy which also would eventually overbridge any
recession. Workers would be
employed. Their earnings would be spent
on all consumer goods. Manufacturing
would bloom & bustle.
Keynes book on “The General Theory of Employment, Interest
& Money” was swallowed by F.D.R’s New Deal experimenters. The result:
Millions of jobs, American reconstruction & common satisfaction
until – the idiots of the Hoover financier, their Supreme Court’s 9 old men
& the Republican old-fogy brigades boycotted, hindered & cursed the
whole thing after the New Deal had become ready for war production which always
puts a nation to work & delivers billions to the least worthy with best
political & economic connections.
But Keynes was right until Nixon, MacCarthy with his Robert Kennedy shut
up the Keynesians & their liberal rages.
Came the reactionaries imbued by the Communist – educated fascism of Ayn
Rand & her disciples in Milton Friedman’s style of patriotic slander &
pious devotion. But Keynes had finished
his great job at Bretton Woods & planned our “International Monetary Fund”
& our “International Bank” although our rightwingers had given him a heart
attack.
The stinking corpse of the late Joseph MacCarthy still
controls the theory of the trickle downers, the financial bosses, our big
bankers of the Federal Reserve System & the so – called conservatives
(read: revoltingly radical exploiters) & largest corporations, actually all
thieves of our former national weatlth, destroyers of our fairly recent budget
surplus & creationists of 8 trillion never payable national debt.
But Bush II who wouldn’t recognize an imitator of Keynes in
himself in spite of his dee – gree in busy – nace Eddy – cation: It is his huge
& aggressive government waste (investment?) in materials of mass –
destruction & well – paying war jobs which “creates” a few thousand well –
paying jobs & more for his pals, multi – billionaires. Curved on averages, the homeless, the
starving, the sick look almost as rich as the oil roughnecks at the top of home
– made terrorist pyramids. If you still
call this dismal swamp of crocodiles & sharks economists in a dubious
economy, you made the most out of idiotic Republican enemies of their
nation. (no longer spelled with a
capital “N”)
Milton Friedman, almost too old to think, like myself, made
His
There is only one thing & fact you can learn from this
flight through mind, might & politics:
Economics is no economy. More
important is that you can be made to feel that economics is no science, has no
scientific basis or relationship. There
are just a million glass houses constructed by economists, industrialists,
commercialists & other prevaricators, including all the recipients of Nobel
Prizes for expressing verbalism on one minor, nonsense factor, a smallish
aspect or despicable non-truth.
But what else is there to be done by the ones who call
themselves social scientists if they are neither social nor scientists?
Yet, all philosophizing is naked theory. The emperors’ clothes matter the most. The makers, shakers & takers of all cash
& all they can carry move the economy.
Whether we like it, hate it or just ignore it, the captains of industry
are the core & everything else in any economy. We said it often enough that Great Britain
was the first center of this modern world’s 1st industrial
revolution because great France was too deeply addicted to mere theory.
Antoine Lavoisier (1743 – 1794) proved by his chemical
experiments that we shall overcome the bloody English. But the Britishers were the ones who begged
the revolting French prosecutors & executioners to spare the life of this
greatest researcher, finder & applier of so far unknown elements. Had he been allowed to dedicate the rest of
his life to his country instead to its tax collection ( a true Publican like
our modern re-Publican), France could have rivaled England if the other
aggressive fool, Napoléon Buonaparte, hadn’t taken the other scientists to
Syria & Egypt to come back only with the Greek – Egyptian stone of
Rosette. What a waste of national
energy! But our Bush involves himself in
bigger & more idiotic dissipation.
Those pious souls who believe that our global system was
created by “Intelligent Design” are sure, as much as the atheists, that Nature
remains mastered, bullied & destroyed by “Acts of God” from earthquake
& its tsunami (tidal wave) consequences, volcanic eruptions which are
closely related to earthquakes, heavenly rains, like in God’s ancient Flood,
civil wars, uncivil foreign wars & self – destruction like fighting the
Tokyo Protocol, using atomic power, the poison power of fertilizers &
similar bio – chemical politics of disasters & mass destruction.
States like
Greater evil results if desperation begins to read the up
& down curves of our income graph; the actuary’s showing of the average
will detract US from the truth:
That the little guy pays all the taxes for little service;
that the corporation darlings pay no taxes although they need all the
protection of our fighters against terrorism; that the adored, or be-jealoused
million, prospers by billions & thousands of those by a few trillions; that the hardest working 100 millon cannot
make ends meet etc., etc. - - -
Then a bloody revolution cannot be avoided, stalled or
battled. But again, like in all national
revolts, ours will be led by a few liberal – minded, socially – conscious or
religiously inspired millionaires.
What else is new in any economy or among economists? Like everyone else, they too live to die to
the $ profit of the churches, the undertakers & the writers of ever –
recurring turmoil which proves that humans are on the lowest rung of the
Primates. Any Gorilla & Chimpanzee
grins when hearing such silly truth.
Economics 101
This spoof is meant to be an introduction into Econ 101, an
introduction to the basic introduction.
This might even be a poor thinker’s replacement for classical “political
economy.” It may even mean something for
someone’s somethings.
Why should any individual bother about the management of
his or her household, their estate & jobs our government has intruded into
all & everything. American individualism
– one for all but never all for one – died when our holloword Constitution
tried to lay down the law & made it stick in the fossil minds of Supreme
Court-iers. Since John Marshall decided
that a corporation was a stymied person, the corporate state of
irresponsibility has reigned supremely over any poor person’s eagerness to be a
responsible worker, manager or ruler over a small empire. We have all been reduced too tax paying
corpus delicti. Only the biggest, most
influential, most greedy & most ruthless economic terrorist has the power
over US all and his or her supposed government.
But once upon a time there were mythical mandates measured
by man’s needs, will & duties once feudalism was declared dead & for
ever done with. John Locke philosophied
freedom, enterprise, the will to serve & to do good as being the
mainsprings of humanity. His idea of
mercantilism soon aged into a coalesced system by that name and title, and the
end if it was a new beginning. Political
economy seemed to be the monopoly of English thinkers before jealous Frenchies
contributed their bit in smallish bites for the student of political economy,
for the political executors of their colonialist plans &, of course, for
the rulers of economic empires and empiricism.
Calling the domineerers of the dependencies abroad
“physiocrats”, was their introduction to big babbles which caused bubble after
bubble from
Jacques Turgot was a poor man’s version of this school of
thought and action. He was destined to
define the system, to make it work for the Kings of France and thus prevent the
“levée en masse”, the resistance to him and all political rulers. But how many times can a bloody revolution
cure the ills in governance, in the human heart and in the evil terrorists who
can talk humanism but will counter – revolutionize the formless and leaderless
masses who are forced to be born to serve as industrial slaves and cannon
fodder?
If our Southern Liberal, Thomas Jefferson, meant what he
said about regular bloody re- solutions, he would be unmentionable in our
present confederate absolutism of Texan creationism. Yet, he saw much of the initiation of his
enjoined blood-letting and still preferred revolutionary French savagery to
British high – mindedness of an insane King.
Tom Jefferson was born into Adam Smith’s “Inquiry into the
Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations.” Both believed that labor is the
most productive pursuit of man. Thus
only the laborers should earn the most reward for their – which neither one
dared say. Maybe so in theory but never
in practice and application.
In fact, both pioneering minds condemned the existing
mercantilism but said nothing – at least, did nothing – for the slaves of their
labor, because that was what made them tick.
Both didn’t stress money as the means, the moving wheel & the aim of
work and commerce. In theory, they were
solely interested in the effectiveness of labor, in the productivity and the
amassing of wealth everywhere.
Smithie also overstressed specialization and concentration
of mental and physical efforts and thus sort of predicted the deadening
assembly lines which made labor to toil, sweat and bleed with large rewards
only for the boss of all bosses.
But as children of the Enlightenment, Smith and Jefferson
started out with humanitarian ideas, plans and exertions. They were not the prophets who could forecast
a born – again economy under the thrall of their wealthier, more cruel and most
patriotically – pious politico – economic monsters. No decent person could have foreseen the
coming of heaven only for the most undeserving tyrants over hearts, souls and
pocket books of the hardest – working common man.
Adam, the Smith, forged a system of benevolent competition
of benevolent humans. He didn’t like or
want trade barriers. If class interests
didn’t move the government to support & restrain the individual, the free
play of true freedom could leave price, quantity and quality of goods to the
market place where demand and offer were the real scales to weigh commerce,
trade, income and profitable enterprise.
Smith didn’t anticipate modern robber capitalism of Mafia –
like, over - powering, over – threatening monopolies. He condemned privileged treatment by
governing forces. But what would he say
about the hoodlums and terrorists to be in charge of all the powers that
be? The meanest and most selfish, rudest
& blood – thirstiest hoodlums to have over-powered all branches of our
government tree, the administration, both Houses of legislation, the Super
Court, the Federal Reserve System, the once independent press, the pious
controllers of all our belief systems and whoever else controls the
controllers?
Poor Adam, little did he foresee that Heaven has no room
left for the meekish humble when the cynical, hypocritically pious self-
promoters can buy entrance to paradise with billions of cash or equally
horrendous credit – certificates in mass murdering. Yet, it is this modern capital – crime,
capitalism, which is worshiped at every prayer institution and the halls of the
White (washing) House and all D.C. centered institutions.
In the beginning, political economy thought of the pricing
must – rules primarily only of cost of raw materials, cost of labor and renting
price of land and factory (even if the manufacturer owned all). Profit as a normal additive motivated
additional pricing. Next, we added the
percentage of capital invested if it was given instead to loans banker –
like. It wasn’t long, however, when
scarcity of capital goods drove up the prices beyond any reckoning. Certainly, retailers charged their ever
higher prices in the poorest ghettos.
With their banks as allies, they took profitable risks, over-burdening
the have nots with loans at enormous interest heights, life – threatening
enslavement and starvation of the indebted.
Even with John Stuart Mills and Charles Dickens as
humanists and humanitarians, nobody could save working stiffs most shameful
exploitation. These “good old times”
produced the misery, wretched poverty, starvation, debtors jails, early deaths,
child labor with its sexual exploitation for up to 95% of the population in
industrial states and their colonies.
Old – time capitalism had become their hell on earth with the hope –
promise of churches for Heaven after an early death for suffering
humanity. The oldest among the still
living remember the vicious capitalism of the past and equally fear that their
dubious future is also in the dirty hands of faking fascists now in control of
destiny.
The greatest lie in all book teaching economics is, of
course, that the “Captains of Industry” produced the mighty power of our
democracy and the only remaining super – power.
Those captains surely produced the greatest riches for themselves, the
powerful ownership of most wealth for them alone and for the rest threatening
unemployment, perpetual fear, hunger, loss of homes, diseases rampant
everywhere, suicide and destruction of families.
Only Socialists like Robert Owens & Utopians like him,
tried to better lives for as many as their wealth, intelligence and their
spirit of enterprise could manage. But
few Englishmen and fewer fellow Scots appreciated what he had done for them and
what he had sacrificed to be a real messiah of the poor and the paucity of
capitalists’ sentiments of humanity.
Early on, feeling people doubted that there would always be
a labor force large enough to handle a permanent expansion of the economy. For accidental deaths, plus natural ones
would reduce numbers which veritable population industry, as commanded by most
religions, could hardly replace. But
their remedy was obvious, radical & violent to those who had jobs even if
poorly paid – favored move from rural out-of-reach rustics into the original
rust belts of big industrial entrepreneurism.
In addition, good advertizing and big lies about workmen’s paradises
attracted ever more and faster transmigrations of work-o-holics from far away
countries and not-yet-developed continents.
Immigrations produced a huge labor pool. If the job-holders protested or grimaced
their disapproval, or even concern about the security of their job as source of
survival, they could be fired. In early industrial development, child labor
displaced their parents’ jobs and organized strikes which kept new hires
outside the reach of labor’s fists and sticks were reduced to sham resistance
by privately – paid hoods – in U.S.A. Pinkerton – Guard ruffians - & when
insufficient, by militias of upper middle – class thugs or uniformed government
troops. Because, then as now, the big
enterprises had nearly all government and its military forces in their
pockets. Although the New Deal
revolution was decidedly labor – friendly before Reagan and the later Bush reintroduced
the sole solar power over labor while moony attempts of free labor in a free
democracy were hopeless and never ever successful.
The ultimate social, economic and political power in merrye
old
So we can understand Ricardo’s respect for soil to be the
measure of all things economical, the old-time gold standard. Land was the unchanging, most stable form of
unchanging stability of the economy, the industrial meter of political hegemony. Our entire land is owned by foreign
enemies. But manufacturing demanded an
expansion of the mind, the family properties and the entire economy along with
social and political extensions and ever more extensive development and power.
How could an entrepreneur expect scientific motivation with
scientific progress without caring sufficiently for the education of his
workforce and their children? Like the
slavocracy, bigshots hated to contribute their penny to public
instruction. In cynical defence, they
rather called the “colleges” of the leisure class public schools.
Don’t we know that the born – again hypocrites underfund
the true public education which lies under their feet but destroy the
requirement of their holy Constitution, separation of church and state, in the
false name of educational improvement.
Just see and hear their manifest decrying of gambling in their town,
county or state if a large chunk of the profits from gaming is meant for
instruction and teaching tools in public schools. These scoundrels of anti-people sympathies
take their surplus funds to Las Vegas, Monaco or gambling boats (cruise ships)
while claiming their hatred of all money games and risks with the exception of
church bingo for bimbos, their horse racing, dog racing but not that of game
hens when they are roosters with a sharp cutting iron blade in the game cock
arsenal.
I heard many pious ones explain their unnatural compassion
for the underdog by the routine bravour talk:
“I don’t want the poor guy to lose his last dollar”, even if they get
hold of everyone’s last dollars for cigarettes, beer and unholy medicines in
which these terrorists own stocks and bonds.
No smoker will ever buy bread for his hungry family. He is trained by our big corporations to be
selfish like them. He may not admit it,
but he lets his kids starve rather than forego his trained taste for nicotine,
alcohol and “prescription” drugs. The
corporations, President Bush, Frist M.D. and Senate Majority Leader are the
chief criminals in economic and political gangsterism.
What moneybags never care to appreciate is that they thus
crush al hopes for a poor person’s psyche:
Their tiny investment in a lottery ticket, wager of a dollar in a
cockfight or equally small investment in winner takes all & fake bets keeps
this “investor” alive with a tiny gleam of lust for life, work and toil for his
family. This is what the passionate conman
who calls himself a compassionate Republican Conservative tries to kill in any
good man.
John Marshall (1755 – 1835) left log cabin syrup behind to
join the American Revolution. Tried by
other Founding Fathers in several important new government positions, he didn’t
strive for fortune of money for himself but for the ones he labored for. Power, ever more power, for himself &
allies was his utopian wish. He created
the means & the way to exalt in it.
During his 24 years as our Supreme (Court) Justice he made
the Court rule over our Legislature & Presidency (Administrations: His
hardly
challenged proclamation in
the Marbury vs.
As a Federalist, he wanted the central government to be
superior to state governments. But would

If we verify old Malthus and still believe again that
industries and wealth grow in artithmetical progressions by addition but
population grows in geometrical succession – double and keep doubling doubles –
we could be wrong unless we learn to believe in the modern school of religious
multiplication: Let every male semen and every female egg serve the Creator’s
holiest purpose – create and procreate with the focus on fetus and its
uninterrupted development. Holy
cow! Calve and calve whether sick or
unwanted and fill the earth with godlike creatures to creep along neglected or
enslaved as most wanted and cheapest work fodder or cannon fodder until there
is no standing room or food left for all.
For if the economy becomes as sick as the brains of these
pious watchdogs, they can start a war of defence of our land by invading real
or supposed enemy nations. The need for
old – new war industries creates the best - paying jobs, no – bid – billion –
dollar – creationist contracts and all the additive billions for corruption at
the top of our religious pyramid the pious one needs and enjoys. High crimes and misdemeanor are not
punishable in the time of crusading war needs.
Bush, Cheney, Frist, Hasterd and other con – servative terrorists are
witnesses to these facts of high life and expunging every notation of proofs of
guilt during a yearlong assertion of separation of Administration from
Legislative and Jurisdiction.
In spite of a violent form of expressed reluctance, our capitalist
world is pressured by our rulers into ever fewer ways of survival for the
common work person. Assuming that
general bloodshed has had the desired effect of population control, the
reduction of weapons of mass destruction (the religious mass?) & many
special services & well – paying jobs, the future looks ever more
simplified to the poor simpleton. In
spite of all the tricky teachings at
Most charitable organizations are tied to religion. That is why you can manipulate through them
your I.R.S. debt level with the hearty approval of legislatures and
administrators in cities, counties, states and the federals. Never have these charities been more
productive of huge and permanently secured income for families who know how to
get such a gold mine started and prosper.
Remember that with ”Christian Children Fund” at the top, a thousand of
these charitable organizations write off cost of operations, mailing and
professional collectors’ charges up to 95% of the inflowing money. Put together, they do better than federal tax
collectors because these money mills don’t have to pay any taxes. Also, all the Rockefellers, Fords and
Kennedys could survive in luxury if they never worked at all or volunteered for
public “service”. Also, these charities control
political power, added to their social and economic might.
I know that this contributor to over 20 charities has been
receiving weekly, for many years, at least 2 new requests to contribute to old
and also brand – new charities. Since then
I have taken my own pick without spending money for the large alliances because
they include small charities I don’t trust.
During the last 5 years, these money collectors have forced on me
several sheets of address stickers which I neither want or need because I
already have a few large envelopes full of them.
I would command these insistors of ever larger
contribution: Stop loading me with junk
mail. If you want to help some poor
souls, some defect bodies and the truly needed, use your own resources to do
so. For I know some of these money –
lusting organizers to possess enormous wealth by the many millions if not
billions. You need not molest these
oldsters who don’t know yet how much they will have to disperse under the Bush
– Dr. Frist medical insurance plan which looks ever more like a reverse robbing
Hood monstrosity to take from the poor and give to the richest, the medical
empires. No doubt, all the organizers of
big charity rackets employ large groups of helpers who all do well if they can
handle their beggary via computer at home.
Obviously, they charge rent of their vast estates as business
expense. For charity & its entire
structure is one of the big commercial deals for wheelers & dealers &
great power interests. This segment of
The pharmaceutical giants never had it so good but still
will do better and better by trillions in years to come. The networks of family “owned” hospital and
clinic chains will always have great legislative and administration connections. Only a liar like Dr. Frist, Senate Majority
Leader, can get away with selling multimillion dollars worth of stock when they
are highest on their stock exchanges and still claim that he didn’t know about
the wheeling and dealing of papa and the rest of the family. If he were a Jew or a member of a different
minority, he would be in jail or, at least, lose his prestigious job while a
grand jury investigated crooked dealing.
(Did not the 2nd man of the House of Representatives, Delay
lose his for a short while?)
Remember the great speech of Precedent Bush? Grand promise of prescription drugs paid for
all kids and senior citizens?
Immediately Dr. Frist outlied his Führer: “All you have to do to get
your prescription drugs paid is phoning the Social Security
Administration. What a wonderful promise
to those aged, sick, desperate and poor!
This writer may have been among the first to phone that

was stunned: “This is the first I heard about this trillion dollar treasure for
those in need of real assistance.” While I held the line, she talked to her
boss on duty, and he spoke to the headman still in the office to listen to
their president. No answer yet.
Within a week, I think, I got my first shock in form of the
package to my address with my more-than-half-a-century-old S.S. number behind
my name and address. I was told to fill
out enclosed forms, so I can join the Social Security members and know how to
pay my weekly or monthly contribution to unemployment and retirement insurance
and assure my right to that great insurance.
As well as the promise of retirement benefits.
Did these bureaucrats try to shock this nonagenarian into a
heart attack and thus free their President and Senate Republican majority liars
and crooks of a critic? Then, some time
later, I got, like every worker and retiree, the fabulous offer to ask one of
the numerous health insurance profiteers for an application to join his or her
merry company. Obviously , these were
among the characterless characters who had bought all the powerful politicians
by paying their electioneering expenses plus throwing big and plush parties for
the party of their choice plus a small bite for the opposition, just in case
that…..
And now these gangsters, corrupters and destroyers of true
democracy will force the “lesser people abroad to adopt their style of
“democracy”, our social and economic system and force our merchandize on them
even if made in

Yes, Mr. Bush, the top Republican earners raise your
national average income; but how long must that right of exploitation be
protected to the disgrace of Western civilization?
Charles R. Crane (1858 – 1939) went the opposite

Only his gifts to the Marine Lab of Woods Hole saved some
old reputation as a generous lover of nature & ecological recognition.
Also note worthy is a more recent turncoat. He was my friend when he was chairman of the
Department of Education of the then San Francisco State College. It was one of the better teachers colleges
before graduating to a state university after the hippie years.
The most liberal Dr. Campbell was blackballed by our Armed
Forces. He was rejected as a speaker to
soldiery because of his known generosity in education, economics &
politics. I visited him a last time at
Chico State College. He had improved its
rank among teacher – education institutes while he was president.
Before our last embrace he mentioned laconically that he
could never receive me again because he had accepted the presidency of the
During my talk to the then- president I commented on recent
discussions by German professors of now known nature: “When Hitler hated only Jews we didn’t
care. When he also killed gypsies &
our own multi – handicapped, we took notice but no action. As soon as scientists & professors were
also persecuted, it was too late to protect ourselves. Everyone has to pay a price when hatred rules
the nation.”
Dr. Campbell understood the meaning well enough. He also was a major in Economics beside
General Education & Administration: “You must understand that my salary is
only $60,000 (mine was $6000). In

We caused 9/11. Nobody else
could. Can we ever change?
P.S. I apologize for errors in dates, data &
spelling of proper nouns. When a
mid-ninety ex-historian cannot remember what he did or wanted to do seconds ago,
he also doesn’t command the best memory over what he studied or taught more
than 7 or 8 decades ago.
